Where can I find the tyre size, including the load and speed indices?

On the sidewall of every tyre, you’ll find a marking that looks something like this:
205/55 R16 91V

What do these figures mean?

• 205 – tyre width in millimetres
• 55 – aspect ratio (sidewall height as a percentage of the width)
• R16 – rim diameter in inches
• 91 – load index (a number indicating the maximum load capacity of a single tyre; for example, 91 = 615 kg)
• V – speed rating (a letter indicating the maximum speed, e.g. V = up to 240 km/h)

Where can I find this?

• On the sidewall of each tyre on your car.
• You’ll find a combination of numbers and letters similar to the example above.
• If you have more than one set of tyres (summer, winter), check the size on both.

Using tyre sizes other than those approved can be dangerous and will also fail the roadworthiness test.
